Mirage Om 6 Speakers Manual

Strength:I compose music for a huge dynamic range (brass ensembles, strings, organ, choir) and this set is like being in the room with any combination I compose for - all the way down to a 32ft organ reed. The sound is tight, the crossovers are. There are crossovers? The subwoofer delivers the roar of window-rattling low reed with pitch, fundamental, timbre, and the characteristic labial transients. A pair of violins with a flute - all in ledger lines far above the treble clef - ar clear as crystal. A pair of violins with a flute - all in ledger lines far above the treble clef - ar clear as crystal. I have an oddly-shaped room which is not kind to placement-sensitive speakers. I had a pair of AR's, and a pair of Sonus Fabers. The OM-6's are wonderful - they sound great with CD music, but they really shine in 5.1-channel surround - they make the sound come from the whole front of the room, instead of two 'points' of sound. I like the high end - very gentle - not quite as silky as a Sonus Faber, but not at all metallic like some others. The subs don't cause impact trauma the way, say, a Velodyne HGS 15' would, but they're plenty adequate for movies and music.Only gripe is that there's no way to hide the cabling, since it's attached halfway up the back of the speaker. Have been using these just over a year now and have had a really good chance to do some good solid listening.

These truly are outstanding speakers. They have a very refined smooth sound that is somewhat laid back. These speakers are never harsh to listen to and have never come across as fatiguing.Detail in the top end is excellent, mid range is smooth and refined and the active bottom is end is deep tight and dry.The sound stage from these speakers is something that needs to be heard to beleive. Which is why I beleive they also make outstanding home theatre speakers. I have mine paired with a Mirage OMC-2 and a Mirage Sub for home theatre. My search for the holy grail in speakers is over and Im very very happy with the result. After using a pair of Bose 901's for 12 years I thought it was time for an upgrade. After reading the reviews on this site and other newsgroups as well as countless stereo magazines I thought I knew what to look for.

Living in a small city there were very few choices to actually audition quality lines. I first auditioned Def Tech BP2000TL-based on the ads I thought surely this would be a must have-wrong-I then auditioned the Mirage OM6 and was dumbfounded at the difference. The bass was more defined and not muddy. This speaker cannot be classified just for home theatre-It has made my CD collection come to life.

If you are in the $2000-$3000 range this speaker is hard to beat. After using a pair of Bose 901's for 12 years I thought it was time for an upgrade. The Mirage OMNIpolar technology is very interesting - the speaker produces an excellent Home Theatre Experience or Live sound. The music is open and detailed - big soundstage, however, the imaging is not razor sharp pinpoint sound like a good front firing speakers. What this speaker lacks in pinpoint sound it gains back with a very big sweetspot. This speaker may not be for everyone. Personally, with more classical recordings the speaker sounds not quite right. Pop and rock no problem very involving - love the sound.5 stars for high end home theatre, pop, jazz and live music.4 for classical music application.

I have owned only 2 speakers prior to these (Shahinian's and B&W's), both direct firing, and I can honestly say that I can see no reason why I would ever buy conventional (forward firing) speakers again. I have always been intrigued with the idea of omnidirectional sound (Shahinian introducted an omnidirectional tweeter years ago) for it's added acoustical spaciousness. With this speaker, the high's are crystal, the midrange is extremely full and the bass, after you properly adjust for your room's acoustics, is punchy and deep. I have waited for months to own these, auditioned them countless times, and finally I have them and could not be happier - honestly. I liked other speaker designs a little better (specifically Revel's) but the OM-6 is a beautiful speaker too - clean and simple.

Fabric metro area rar files. And they are built like tanks (as in heavy - 65lbs a piece). With dual 8' 150W MOSFET subs in the base, gold spike stands and that swank black piano gloss, these are all business.

And for the financially challenged, originally these speakers retailed for $3000, but you can easily find them new for $1800. If you have never considered anything but a direct-firing speaker, you owe it to yourself to listen to these. And if you are considering bipolar (like the Definitive's) you definitely need to compare. Mirage Tower Speakers

They are drastically different than my Polk RTi10s. They simply disappear in front of you, and the entire front wall becomes the soundstage. I like my Polks, too, and a side by side of the beautiful sample tracks on the rives test cd 2 show that the Polks are a bit brighter, but it is always very easy to identify exactly where the speakers are, and the sound coming from. The 2 channel experience is dramatically different. With a pure direct mode enabled, those Mirages fill the entire room, in a totally improved fashion than the RTis, and the low frequencies are remarkable. With my dual SVSs enabled, the diff is less dramatic of course.I probably shouldn't have bought them! Low, deep, tight and musical. And everything else is just plain nice.I'll be looking to buy new in the near future, ONLY because the 760's, while nice looking, are in the end black boxes. We're building a new house, and I'd like something in a more elegant finish. But not at the expense of sound quality. My 760's will be hard to beat.Enjoy your new babies.
