She is engaging and realistic enough to the protagonist of the story to make it seem like you hear Miranda herself, speaking. The book itself has a good plot line, but does tend to drag on in parts. The author uses a lot of ' I said', 'matt said' etc. And gets very repetitive. She definitely needed to vary her use of 'said' a lot more.I definitely recommend this recording- it is very well done.

If I can't wait to find an opportunity to pick up or resume listening to a book, I know I'm lucky enough to have stumbled on a good one.This is definitely one of the good ones! The narrator is 15-year-old Miranda, a teenager interested in teenage things: friends, boyfriends, skating, school.An asteroid hits the moon, knocks it out of orbit, and the result is earthquakes, tidal waves, volcanic eruptions, and the end of life as we know it on earth.Miranda and her little family hunker down and start the business of survival.The truth is, nothing much in the way of plot happens in the book. It's written as entries in Miranda's journal, so it's sort of an apocalyptic Anne Frank.Miranda gradually grows from self-absorbed kid to valiant young woman as her family faces deprivation, illness, death, and uncertainty.I also have to commend the narrator, who captures the voice of a young girl perfectly, hinting at her emotions without over-doing it.
